Week 1 Studio

Morphosis
This semester i have chosen Morphosis as a my architect. What caught my attention about Morphosis is how he uses layered forms in his designs having previously done research on layered forms in a different subject, this is a great opportunity to expand my knowledge on this type of design form.

Hypo Alpe-Adria Bank - an example of mophosis layered forms.

I found the idea of different elements used to make a whole interesting as mentioned in the lecture, the morphosis firm demonstrates this well through some of their buildings. i want this idea to be a major focus combined with layered forms to be a main part of my work for this assignment.

Wayne L. Morse United States Courthouse - a representation of more than one element to create a whole.-

four towers in one - California - a digital representation created by Morphosis for a competition, this is a great example of the combination of both a layered form and a combined element to make a whole. Moprhosis also experiments with interconnection.

Paper Models

The first paper model i did as a abstraction of the digital model four towers in one. i tried to show interconnection through different angles when taking the picture.

Paper Model 2

The 2nd paper model i used the word 'explode' as my main focus because of how the firm morphosis represents their models by exploding them in different pieces.
